I've actually never bothered with Anne Rice. In fact, the only vampire novels I've read (Ms. Meyer's stuff hardly counts, I feel) are Sunshine and The Historian. Been meaning to read Dracula, though.

I agree. I got a kind of Lestat/Louis feel from Carlisle, as well. Probably because he was older. ^.^ Thanks for the comment, btw.

Of course I've read The Historian. Started Dracula, love the story, couldn't get through the book very well.

I think Twilight will be a good way to get involved in vampire novels. It's kind of easing kids into it. After Twilight, I think more people will get into Interview, Lestat, and fall in love. You know, with Lestat. ^.^

*nods* Hopefully it'll sort of do what Harry Potter did for reading; get people to get out there and read more books. And in Twilight's case, perhaps they'll be reading better books by better authors. One can only hope.

They're not really scary, just mature. Her characters are very intense and very awesome and do all sorts of horrible things for all the right reasons....or maybe it's for a ll the wrong reasons...oh who cares? You love them even though so many of them are evil. Except maybe Louis. He needed to stop wanting to be human and get with the vampire program.

But really, did Edward ever start a rock band to sing about being a vampire in? I think not. Another win for Mrs. Rice.
